never A problem, unless someone constrained something they didn't understand. People say not to do it, but I find it's because of the 3 reasons above. Links have the benefit of design options for variations in units, too. But I have tremendous success and comfort with file links, too. Wondering if this could be combined with an arrayed tag that could call out the 1hr 2hr or 3hr along a certain spacing down the wall. I'll do every curtain wall or storefront configuration as a group (I made it office policy). They are the things that contain and display information in the model. According the Revit help file, A family is a group of elements with a common set of properties, called parameters, and a related graphical representation. It's just common sense: if the joint has to be different, I use a different group.Ĥ. Families are the building blocks of an Autodesk Revit model. These wall assembly files are used for planning and estimation purposes for many UL wall types, such as fire-rated wall assemblies. I generally try to be careful about how much walls in groups have to join with items outside the group, but mine do. USG provides resources here for our UL wall assemblies for seamless integration into any construction project. Face based- I include a re plane for the objects.ģ. The exam has a 2-hour time limit (in some countries, the time limit may be extended). WearTesters own Duke 4005 gives his thoughts on UAs latest shoe for the hardwood in his Under Armour Fireshot performance review. Other question types include multiple choice, matching, and point-and-click (hotspot). If I'm using rooms, boundaries are included. The exam is comprised of 35 questions, of which the majority require you to use Revit Architecture to create or modify a data file, and then type your answer into an input box. Every object, whether it is a geometric component, an annotation component, a View or any other component in Revit, is part of a Family. If I'm using wall hosted, the walls are included. Creating Parametric Components in Autodesk Revit Architecture Parametric Families Conceptual Overview Families are the heart of the internal data structure of Autodesk Revit. I never put objects in a group without objects it's dependent on. If a copy of that group gets moved or placed out of plane, that family will stay in plane, and Revit will totally let you do it. I think it's just a matter of knowing what you can and can't do with them.ġ.
OR If you could create a line that is based on the wall centerline and control the view settings to display only that line in certain view templates.I use groups all the time, in just about every project. it would be nice if you could control the appearance of the wall the way a family can be controlled in different views, and you could create a view type for a life safety sheet. We only display ratings on one sheet so we really need them to pop and the hatch pattern just doesn't seem to cut it. I'm a die hard fan of trying to use the program in the way it seems intended, but for this problem, using detail lines seems to be a better solution (for us atleast). Most of them come down to two basic solutions: The work around (detail lines in this case) and trying to use Revit in the way it seems to be intended (hatch patterns). It's interesting the differences in opinions between using different methods. We're in the process of switching over to Revit and are running into many issues similar to this one.
